My daughter had her laptop at a friends house and their cat knocked it off of the couch. The display screen cracked and it was totally unusable. I am a little mechanically inclined so I ordered the part from dell, took laptop apart and replaced the screen. Everything appears to be hooked up correctly and the person at dell took my service tag number and knew which screen I needed so I am pretty certain it is the correct one. I can't get anything to come up on the screen. It is totally black and shows no signs of life. Anyone have any ideas???

you can try hooking up an external monitor and checking the display settings to see if it managed to get switched to external monitor by chance

Try removing the battery and the power cord, hold the power button down for 30 seconds, then return the battery and power cord and try to boot. If that doesn't work try this troubleshooting tips https://www.screencountry.com/index.php?section=downloads&view_article=1219383298&mode=preview&order_by=topic&display_topic=&edit_language=English from https://www.screencountry.com/ web site
