Solution for exel file opening

solution fro this massege whilt opening of Ms Exel File as below
"This file is not in a recogniozable format
If you know the file is from another program which incompatible with microsoft office exel clik cancel, then
open this file in its orginal application.if you want to open the file later in microsoft exel save it in format that is compatible such as text format
if you suspect the file is damaged, clik help for information about solving the problem
if you still want see what text is contained in the file, clik ok then click finish in the taxt import wizard

we con't open in ms exel fomat please help me how to solve this problem
