Itune installation problem

Hello,

i downloaded itune 9.0 64...just 10 secs after starting installation it says congratulations u successfully installed itune...but when i checked folder no file was der...i m tired of downloading different versions from different sites...n also by different browser...lastly i was able to download itune 4.9 but its not detecting my ipod... :(
any suggestions pls....help... :( :( :(
