Hi there,
The option Alt+F10 works only if your recovery partition is still present on hard drive,else boot from recovery cd/dvd's and recover system to factory default settings.If you have a sata hard drive you need to disable sata mode in bios settings to be able to proceed with xp installation on system,the link below from faq will guide you for it:
