Please Help!!!

I have a genuine windows xp home cd that I have used before with no problems.

I am trying to do a fresh install on my desktop. I have changed my boot sequence to boot from cdrom 1st and when my computer starts up it does go to the cdrom to try to boot from the cd and then bypasses and starts windows normally.

I tried disabling all other boot devices so that it's only option is to boot from the cdrom and I get a message "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". So I tried removing the cd and reinserting it and I get the same message.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Hi GrlAvalon
First boot sequence will be CD/DVD. (Make sure settings are saved : boot again and check as per sequence CD/dvd is in first place. If settings are not saved you need to check CMOS battery whether cjharge is present and replace it if there is no charge)

I also suspect may be CD is corrupted and become non bootable.
