I dont know what im doing wrong!!!

I have "The Sims 2 fun with pets collection" and its saying that i need to have "The Sims 2" in order to install it but one of my friends has the same one and it works.. Her computer says she has the original! I have the original one too what do i need to do in order to install it i have 2 sims games but i cant play either of them!!! Is the original game... "Sims 2 pets"?? If so it is one of the games with the collection!!
