Please help ?netgear router doesnt work

Hello, i have a netgear router and clear home internet. when connected to the modem and is routed to the desktop neither does it give off any wireless signal but it doesnt connect the he desktop to the internet. the internet light stays on and also the power light and te jack #'s but the check and wireless light remain off. please direct me on how fix this problem i would hate to buy a new router
