Try to use the cleaning disk. Usually if the lens develop some dust it doesnt read then as well. if nothing works then show to hardware guy. if they say the lens need a change then ask them how much they gonna charge and find out from the market how much a new cd/dvd writer/reader whatever you prefer to use, costs.
