Netbook keypad won't allow me to put letters

Hello,
I have a new Dell Inspiron mini- the keypad works fine for most things but it won't allow me to type letters in bank password. Has anyone had a similar problem and can help?

Please carry out a virus and trojan scan to confirm that the problem is not resulting from any kind of infection.
