How do I get icons back on the taskbar?

Hello,

I right click on the task bar and went to properties to get the volume icon back on the task bar but the volume check box was gray and couldn't check the box. I also tried going to the control panel was unable to do it. Now my internet explorer icon is gone from the taskbar as well, please help!!!! My computer is windows vista.

Dear Lore,

Please get to your Control Panel> Sound and Audio Properties and check the feature to show the sound volume icon.
