Windows xp wont load after IE 7 security upda

Hello,

One of the girls in my office ran the microsoft security update for IE 7 and in order to do that it installed a windows xp 3 pack and when the updates were complete her computer automatically shut down. Now it won't start back up again. We've tried the F8 ans starting with last known good configuration but it doesn't work, we get a "no signal" then it just circles back to rebooting. Any thoughts?
