Lap top will not turn back on

Hello,
I have a Dell Inspirion 1501 that locked up while I was typing. I tried to hit the ctrl alt delete and it did nothing! It was not moving! I waited a while and nothing at all. I tried to hit it again (c a d) NOTHING! I waited again. Finally I hit the power off button. It shut off and when I hit power button again it just won't turn on. It lights up, and makes the sound like it is turning on, but nothing after that. Normally you can hear it running clicking through the processes but nothing. You can hear it turn on, the fan run at first, then the light stays on but nothing comes on. I hit enter, and sort of walked through the motions of if it was on, using my password to sign on, and so on...but nothing, and you can't hear it either!
