Is there any way to get the problem solved without having to format my computer and reinstalling my OS?

Hello,

There is a possible way. Insert your Vista disk and boot. You may get the option of just repairing.

Please mention the error,you can also try to repair the corrupted system files or make a system restore to previous dates it was working fine.
