Hello,

I am using Lenovo R60 with windows XP pro, 80G HHD. Got a problem with Network connection (Corrupted WMI) that got me to reinstall the OS.

I tried to used the computer system recovery but it did not allow me to do so and after it restart it goes into system recovery again and I could not go into the window environment. With no choice, I insert a XP Pro OS installation disc and reload the OS.

Now I faced the first problem with the HDD, it stated my C drive (System drive) only have 4.47GB and 100 M free, out of the 80GB of HDD. Why?

Then I download the EASEUS master partition software and I managed to retrieve the remainder 70GB and partition it as drive G (55GB0 and drive H (15 GB). I used G for my folders and files, while I use H for my program files (Application installation). Thought my worst nightmare had ended but it was just the beginning.

As I started to install applications into H drive, space in C drive is also used up. Now I am left with 30M free space. I cannot install any more application now.

Also, some applications auto install into C drive (Program files) and so I never have the chance to install them as the error message will appear "Not enough disc space for installation".

With this current scenario, my laptop is useless without the needed programs to run the applications I need.

My question now is: Is there a way to change the settings for all program installation to automatically installed in the H drive\Program files folders which I have created???, instead of into the C drive\Program files folder??

Or should I use Easeus master partition to delete all partition and reformat the 80G HDD, and then reinstall the XP Pro OS from the CD?? Don't know if this is workable, just my thoughts.

Could anyone out there assist me to solve the above problems and give me instruction to get my laptop to operational status?

Thank you.

Jimmy

Have you tried to have the system repaired before?

Dude whatever files you have managed to backup through EASEUS thats great now move all your important data to some external hardisk or make dvd's of those now when you r done having a backup of your drive
Now go to right click on my computer icon go to manage go to Disk Mangement
now right click on all the drives except c:\ and delete those drives
Turn off your computer
Now take windows xp installation disk and as you arrive to the page where it asks in select partition to install at that time there will an option to delete selected partion so go and delete c drive too
now you will have an raw disk totally empty now use the same page to craete partition this time create c drive of 20 Gb and install windows into this drive you created
After installation completes again right click on my computer icon and goto manage and goto disk management then right on bottom where it says free space and select create partition now make partitions as you like

Than You

Thanks alot alok999,

I had restored my OS using the built-in system recovery once before and it worked. I don't know why it is not working this time.

Anyway, I had lost all the system recovery data from my laptop and I have no choice but to follow your instruction described above. Your idea I felt is very good and I should have a chance to recover back my OS. I will try and then revert to you on the result.

Thank you once again.
