Laptop hook it up to my hdtv

Hello,

I have an acer and trying to hook it up to my hdtv is a pain every time I plug in the vga-hdmi cord the computer screen goes blank and still shows nothing on the tv. I pushed the fn-F5 and still nothing can you please help me thank you?

Hello,

Tv needs to be set on hdmi,computer,vga mode so that you get the display on it,you are using which tv model?

I set it to hdmi and still blank. I can hear it but nothing on both screens.
