Laptop hangs at post screen Closed

Question

Hello,  

i have a toshiba satellite P305D-S8834  
it happens to hang a the very first page where it says toshiba leading innovation! and it won't go any where past that page and i try to press F2 for help and it doesnt open up and f12 wont do anything  
please help me thank you 
Configuration: Windows Vista / Safari 534.3

Please indicate whether you are able to enter safe mode and also if you have tried to repair the OS or restore it to factory settings.
