Screen goes black when I adjust monitor

Hello,
I don't know why, but lately when I adjust my monitor on my Compaq Presario C751NR Notebook PC with Windows Vista's operating system, it goes black. It appears that there may be a shortage in my monitor connection, but I do not know. If I look hard enough, I can vaguely see my desktop. Please give me some insight on this issue. Thanks.

It looks like you have a short in the cable that powers the backlight. Replacement of this cable is easy for a PC repair shop. But, do not attempt this yourself.
