Stop error 0x0000007B

Hello,

I have an acer aspire 5542 and have tried to reinstall windows xp, with new hard drive, i get to the part where it says windows is starting and then i get "stop 0x0000007B

have tried Alt F10 with old hd but get message to back up data files and get new hd..

i have also removed the battery..

i have stopped short of throwing this laptop into the fresh snow outside

i have also tried to put hd in to other laptop to load os but get the same error...

any suggestion would be greatly appreciated...
