my laptop screen is black Closed

Hello, 

i have an older model compaq laptop and whn i turn it on it goes thur the part where u can press esc to tdo this and F10 or F12 to do this but then it goes black and stays that way until i turn it off..WHAT DO I DO???? please help me

well friend as for as my observation is concern there may be graphic chipset problem like nvidea, ati gm 945 or 915 gm u need to change ur grapic chip hence your problem will be resolved. thanks
