Compaq(HP) n6120 laptop keyboard issue

Hello,
I have a Compaq n6120 laptop that is having the following issues:
in order to get the keyboard to work, I am having to press on certain parts of it, and to the front left the first light (disk symbol) is blinking off and on & when it isn't on, the keyboard will not work. When it is lit up the keyboard works great....

what does this sound like the issue may be?
