Where do i go to change my background?

Hello,
I can't find a single thing on my netbook that allows me to change my background.
All i can find is screne saver and other similar settings, but no background properties
I got an acer aspire one as a christmas gift but i cannot personalize it like a want to with an HP collage. the comp wont even let me configure themes to it. Please, someone help me!
