Hi Franz
Thank you for the much needed information. I suggest that you never upgrade to Vista and XP is a fine operation system, good for many years to come.
Please click on this link, if you recognize your laptop, download the drivers and install them:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=468823&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=453246
After you have installed the drivers, reboot and tell me if you sound has returned so that we can have a party.
Regards

Dear Franz
Yes there is something that you can download and install, I would also even go as far as saying that you may not need to download anything because it already may be in your laptop.
You tell about your laptop, brand and model. Also you must specify the operating system you are using.
Provide the above information
Regards

Hello Franz
You are quite welcome. Start a trend, give to the next.
