It's beacause the version of iTunes you would download is not compatible with your Windows. Try to up to date your system first (the current update of Windows is SP3). To do it, follow thes instructions:

1. Click Start, click Control Panel.
2. According to the display control panel you use (Classic or Category), do one of the following:
* Click System, then click the Automatic Updates tab.
* Click Performance and Maintenance, click System, then click the Automatic Updates tab.
3. Select an option. Verify that the Automatic Updates feature is not disabled.

After the update of your system, retry to install iTunes.

Good Luck!
I have the same problem and when I did the steps listed above it still never gave me any updates for anything and I still cant download Itunes or anything...

After I did that it said...

iTunes + QuickTime...iTiunes requires that your computer is running SP3(Services Pack 3) and I pressed ok and i guess it will now work...
