WD not recognized on Mac

Hello,
I bought a WD hard and my Mac does not come up with a HD or is seen on the desktop. Does anyone know what I can do to make this work.

Maybe formatted as Windows file system, not Mac file system.

Please go to Disk Utility in Finder>>Applications>>Utilites>>Disk Utilites
Check if WD Hard Drive is on Disk Utilites - if so, you may need to format it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

it dont even show up on disk utilites

Hi Dean,
I have tried your solution but it still does not show up under disk utilities. It does show up in my pc but I am trying to get my pictures of off my mac and store them. Someone suggested a USB 3.0 right now I am using a 2.0. Any other suggestions?

same problem i need help I really need my data back it has my school project draft on it and without it I'm gonna fail :(

If you format the drive you will loose the data. I have a problem where the drive is not recognized and I would like to recover the data. Help any one plllleeeeaaasseee
