Windows Movie Maker Import - Help!

Hello,
I am trying to import a video into Windows movie maker. I have tried importing from disk. No Go. Then I put the folder on my desktop, No Go. Then I put the files individually on my desk top No Go. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I do file >new project> import media>drop down> name of folder> I tried to put the name of the individual file in the drop down box but it only gives me the folders, no files. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? or better how to do it right? thx Inventing Joy
