Internet wont show up on my laptop

Hello, my TOSHIBA laptop's internet wont work .when i say this i mean the wifi bars that are supposed to be in the bottom right corner, wont show up.i tried to customize the stuff that is in the bar in the bottom right hand corner but it wouldn't even show up when your trying to customize it.and it wont work still. i thank you for any help u can give me.

if you go start > control panel > network and sharing center

then to manage adapters/properties (or something like that) on the left side

you should see Local Area Connection along with Wireless........

if you only see Local Area Connection then it looks like you need to (re)install wireless drivers.

can you provide the laptop make/model if so.
