Help!

Photoshop Elements problem.

Somehow a photoshop file got saved as type "file 11" and now when I try to open it this comes up: "Cannot open...because it is the wrong type of file". When I right-click the file icon & check properties, it says "opens with Adobe Photoshop Elements". So why won't it open?

Tons of hours of work on this graphics file, I NEED to get into it!
THANKS!

Hello,

Download and install Irfanview (a freeware image utility) ffrom the link below:
https://ccm.net/downloads/image/4607-irfanview/

Then drag 'n drop your psd file onto an Irvanview window. If the file is not actually a psd file but instead maybe a tif file with an incorrect psd extension then Irfanview will tell you this.

This is the only reason I can think of that Photoshop Elements will not open a file. And believe it or not saving a psd with a tif extension or a tif with a psd extension is a more common mistake than you would think.

Let me know if the problem persists.
