Hello, friends


please help me to setup the networtk card in Redhat Linux EL5

in windows setup. i hae to use the statis ip as followin

IP Add: 192.168.200.50
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.200.1

Prefered DNS: 218.248.240.135
Alternat DNS: 218.248.240.180


i had added this information to the linux but dont know how to setup this connection for internet access.


in linux i can oping on 192.168.200.1


but still noty able to use the internet.

please help me


i have installed it in vmwareworkstation: i m new bee so dont know what i have to the network interface in vmwatre workstation Bridge/NAT/Host only or custom.


i would like to use this linux from another computer for remote desktop purpose pleasde help me to solve my problem


thanks in advance, need your kind intelegency to solve my problem

Hy,

In vmware you will have to choose, for the network settings, between bridge or NAT in order to connect your VM to the LAN and internet.

If you don't need to host any network service such as web server, you should use NAT with DHCP settings. You should then set your guest OS to use DHCP settings.

Thank you very much, I had finally made setting to static IP by Bridge connection in VMware,

Now i would like to setup my linux to use multi user from the other computers like as windows setup...means need to setup the cocurrent users worked at a time to the same pc from network in GUI mode..is it possible for linux?

How to setup such cocurent multi user rhel5...can you suggest/help me to do this..

I am glad you made it work.

You can use a software like vncserver. There are vnc clients for windows and UNIX/Linux.
