Imac and mac ......same software?

Hello,
i got an Imac at work and i was wondering if i need my imac instalation software or i can use any mac software like 10.4 or ......?????
cuz ive tried to instal 10.4 but it wont work it tell's me ( this software cannot be instaled on this computer)


right now i have version 10.3.9 my processor is 1.8 GHz Powerpc G5
and i got 256 Mo DDR SDRAM.

i really need help ......plzzz

You have a PowerPC CPU and the imac uses an Intel CPU. They need different OS software.

i got an other question ....to restore factory setting without the cd ...is there any way ?

No - get on the phone to Apple and order a CD it's not a big problem.
