Laptop won't start properly

I have a Compaq presario CQ60 laptop and only the other night I turned it off and went to sleep etc, everything was fine then the next day I woke up and turned it on, the screen starts up and then it shows ''windows is loading files'' and then this blue screen pops up (which from previous experiences usually shows the laptop trying to repair a problem) but this time all I see is a blue screen with the mouse and that's it?

I've left it like that for hours, trying to see if it'll eventually work, I've left it off or hours... charged it, taken battery out... I have no idea what to do? please help!
