.exe files won't run
Solved/Closed
Hi all,
pretty sure this started with a virus which AVG caught pretty quickly, but not before it changed the program associations so that .exe files no longer run (I can run some using the right-click and "run as admin" command such as firefox, AVG but not skype or my webcam software). None of my programs run on startup so I have to disable my wireless when I boot up before I turn on AVG which can be annoying when you forget!
I've done some google research and tried some fixes using notepad to create a .reg file which doesn't seem to work. I can make the .reg file and run it successfully but I still can't open the .exe files. Help please!
Cheers

Hi,
I think it is Windows Vista your operating system, let me know if it is not the case.
For Vista, try this fix:
1. Download the .zip file from the hyperlink below:
Exefix_Vista
2. Open the downloaded .zip file, then extract (drag and drop) the .reg file to the desktop.
3. Right click on the extracted .reg file and click on Merge.
4. If prompted, click on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK.
5. When done, you can delete the downloaded .zip and .reg files on the desktop if you like.
6. Log off and log on, or restart the computer to apply.
Good Luck!
