Hello,

I am currently using windows xp professional. I am planning to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. In another 2 years, I am also planning to upgrade my system. I am planning to uninstall windows 7 on my current system and installing on the future system. (Meaning only one working copy of windows at a time.) Will microsoft consider this as piracy? Please advice

Dear Devrath,

If you purchased a single license you can install on only one computer even if you uninstall it and if you install on a different machine, Windows will paralyse it after 3 months.

To install your Win 7 on a different machine, Microsoft must receive certification that it was completely uninstall from the previous. That is possible.

I suggest you write Microsoft and ask them on how to proceed.

Here is a contact link for customer support:

Hi Ambucias,

Thanks for the reply. I am in India and the link you provided doesn't seem to be working. How do I contact Microsoft regarding this?

Would microsoft consider my copy as pirated even if I register & activate my copy using the same name?

Devrath,

The link I have given you is for India. Look at this link:

As for you latest question, same name it does not matter; it's only for one computer

Good luck
