Xp blue screen

Hello,
I m Using Dell Vostro LAptop
When ever i star my Xp 9/10 times it show a blue screen & Restarts.
so many times i formatted it but after installation in 2-3 hours its again the same.
some times it also shows check screen in yellow or pink colors . & if by luck it starts it shows a message "windows recovered from a serious error" but as the next time i start it again the same prob occurs Plz Hep Its around 3-4 months i facing this..
i m also using Vista along with this & this Prob not occurs in that..
Also Got Some prob. with Vista After 1 month around of insatallation It doesnt show when i conn. my Pen Drive It shows icon on task bar of safely remove hardware but doesnt show in my computer ...
& Dvd Also Shows Blank unless i insert the dvd 5-6 times

Hello,

In order to pinpoint the issue, I must know the ten caracter code beginning with 0x that you see on the blue screen.

I also updated my drivers once still no progress

I also used Xp SP 3 But there also same problem. i got image of stop error & the check screen if i could send u somwhere..?

Dear Rahul,

There are several possibilities to the error code 0x0000008E. I will give you the two most probable for the moment. Please check if one of the following applies to you and take the appropriate action:

1. The file "catrrot2" was not deleted during installation. You must delete it manually. When the error message appears again press capitals and F10 and enter the following command:

cd \windows\system32 et rename catrrot2 catold.

2. One of your Ram stick is damaged and it must be replaced
