IDE and hard drive locations

Hello,


I am wanting to know exactly how the ide cables connect to the hard drive, cd/r,dvd/r and 3.5 floppy to the motherboard on a compaq presario 5000. my hard drive is a seagate u series 5 40gb. Also the correct memory and which is master and slave. I want to make sure i have it correct. I have had hard time with this and would appreciate your advice. Thank you sincerely aldar7

well the IDE cable connector differs interms of HOLES in diff devices like ur HD has 40 holes while ur floppy uses 35 holes, so wen trying 2 connect u re sdviced 2 chk properly d back of ur devices b4 connecting inoda 2 avoid mking wrong connections
