Damaged I phone 4 without backing up

Hello,

My I phone 4 was damaged recently and I received a new phone, managed to bump all contacts and photos but stupidly hadn't sync'd my phone for ages meaning I've lost the last 6 months of music down loads, is there any way to get them back without having to purchase them all again? The apple store did mention a link on apples web site where you could ask but there is no guarantee, can't see this link though.

Any help would've appreciated.

ive had my itunes deleted on rebooting my pc without backing up, , & had to purchase the song's again, you needed to sync your phone to update music purchases to sync back to your phone.
have you contacted apple?
