Laptop problem!

Hi, i have a problem with my laptop. when i switch it on evrything works fine except that my screen does not display anything! i tried the 'take out battery, hold startup button for 30/60 secs then connect it to the supply and power it up again' it works but then once it goes to the login screen the display shuts off again. whats wrong with my laptop? anyone knows how to fix it up? :/
