Hello,

I have a 80gb Ipod classic.

I recently formatted my laptop & re installed itunes. However i had taken the back up of songs on my hard disk (more than 2000 songs, there are like 100's of folders) & don't want to copy all of them again on my laptop as i am planning to sell the laptop in next couple of months.

I can listen to those songs on my ipod as i had already synchronized them on my ipod before formatting. my itunes library is working fine now.

My question is, i want to add new songs in my ipod. can i do that? will all the old (2000) songs get deleted, as they are not on my laptop anymore? will i have to copy all my old songs back?

You have the option to manually control the transfer of songs. That way you choose which songs are transferred. Using the "sync" feature will result in the loss of all the songs on the Ipod.

Good Luck
