The best picture quality will come from the DVI output which is spot 2.
then you will need DVI cable.
the two DVI ports indicate that you have a "video card" that means that the VGA port (spot 1) is deactivated by the BIOS and will not have a signal.
But, You monitor may not have DVI ports if it is old. If you need to use the VGA input to the monitor then you will need to use a DVI to VGA plug adapter that should have come with the video card.
