My hard disk won't display the data in it.
Closed
Hello,
I have a seagate HD 250gb. I had slaved it in a machine running on windows xp professional. It suddenly failed to read and write info. via the network since I had shared it. Since then it detects and shows as drive D without giving its name and if I try to browse it, It shows that the drive is inaccessible. you need to format it. I have tried to run CHKDSK /f to try and fix the problem but all in vain.
Please help. It contains very vital data that I cannot trace anywhere else.

You can download this
https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download
Launch test disk
Select your harddrive>>>partition>>Advanced
If you have boot option>press B
next,if you have list option>>press L
This should list your files, read the instructions, and save your files accordingly
If that doesnt work there are linux live CDs like knoppix ,download and burn it to a DVD
See if you can access your datas using it.
