E-mail setup

Hello,
i have a used laptop and am trying to set up an e-mail address but is asking for the Windows username and password, how do i sort this out??? my sister is the previous owner and can't remember. the username and password I'm using when I turn on the laptop won't work with the e-mail setup, i've set these up before by doing it this way(i think).
