"No Signal" on Computer Monitor

Hello

I have been running my laptop from a different monitor for about 5 months since the screen has gotten damage. Just recently I started getting "no signal" on the monitor though the laptop still boots. Ive tried unplugging, disconnecting all hookups, taking out laptop batter just in case and nothing seems to work. The monitor works when hooked up to another computer..
Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated!

check your data cable of monitor clean it and again restart

It's possible the connection on the laptop is fried after doing more troubleshooting, but something might still work.
How do you mean to "clean it" --?
