A friend gave me a PowerBook G4, presumably erased clean. I turned it on and got the flashing, alternating question mark/(Finder symbol? - can't remember.)

I have Tiger Install Discs from my iMac, but when I insert and restart I get words and code including but not limited to "panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002E59BC): Unable to find driver for this platform: "PowerBook6, 2".

The last line reads "panic: We are hanging here..."

Any suggestions for getting this thing up and running? Thx.

You need a OS built for the PowerPC chip. Depending on the model PowerBook you have you can use OSX 10.4.11 (Tiger) or 10.5.8 (Lepard) or the older 9.2.2 OS.

Good Luck
Thanks for the reply.

How do I find out which model it is? It's a silver 13" PowerBook G4. I thought that was the model...
