What is the make and model of your computer ?
What is the make and model of your Ethernet card ?
Does the card show in your device manager ?

You have a Marvell Ethernet card
Go this page, go down, find lan driver, click on it.
http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=396
Download it on a Flash or pen drive and transfer it to the desktop.
Unzip the file and install the driver.

If it would not work on XP professional I would not had given the link to you. It will work on all Acer T671 equipped with a Marvell Ethernet card, regardless of the operating system.
