My acer aspire won't turn on "check cable" UR

Hello, I have an acer 5553 aspire and when I turn it on it says "check cable" operating system fail, or something like that!
Ive tried the alt+f10 thing to put me back to restore management but it won't work ive also tried going into my "enter setup" bit from the acer screen but apparently Im meant to have a "advanced tab" which I don't? I only have a back up disk from when i first got the laptop! Please help me fix it someone:( x
