A problem with my lap..need your help!!!

Hello.. i hope you can help me guys! i've got a problem with my laptop and i don't know what to do! it is 2 DAYS old and works well.BUT suddenly the screen becomes black though the lights are on and it's impossible to do anything with it.when i remove the battery and put it back it turns on again as if nothing had happened!
i wonder why is it so and what can i do about it. thanks!!! P.S. i haven't had a laptop before,so any advice is important

by the way, it is Sony Vaio Vpcf121fx/H and OS is Windows7 PRO...
