Title: xp won't boot

Hello
I did all the normal things, from "last configuration, normal and the F8 safe mode reboot and I always get brought back to the same page, "incorrectly shut down".
I have a borrowed Windows 7 computer to look for answers from you guys, but have no XP disc's or recovery stuff, as this was a rental also. It worked at the "shop" where I took my computer for repair, but never opened here at home.
