Hello,
Try this 1
Install the audio drivers once again. Go to your manufacture's website and
download the drivers. If the problem still exists then install the chipset driver
first and then audio drivers.
Or
Let us know your laptop brand name and the complete model number.

there some steps for you(1)
if you use windows XP
1.go to control panel
2.Add Hardware
3.click next
then you must wait a few second to add some hardware
Select Yes, I have already connected the hardware
then there some founded or installed hardware
and you may found a speaker icon with yellow triangle
then click that speaker icon click Next to check properties,or Troubleshoot
you may found your problem
