My laptop goes black screen

Hello, I am having a problem with my laptop. It is a Sony Vaio. with windows vista installed. When I turn it on it say resuming windows then goes black screen. I have taken the battery out and used just the plug, turned it back on and it still goes black screen. What else can I do to get my laptop back to working normal?

Try this:

Remove the battery and the cable. Press and hold the power button for 58 seconds. Replace the battery and boot.
