Hi jazimvm,

The error message you have mentioned appears in Windows XP when there is a problem with the Sound Card in the machine. There are a few troubleshooting steps that you can try to fix the problem. Please go through the link mentioned below, it has detailed steps on how to fix a problem like the one you are facing:

https://support.microsoft.com/instantanswers/a183aa8b-0eac-4566-867a-98d2761a770d#no-sound=windows-xp&v1h=win8tab1&v2h=win7tab2&v3h=winvistatab1&v4h=winxptab2

Hi jazimvm,

As mentioned earlier please verify if there is a Sound Card installed in your machine. To do so follow the steps below:

1. Open Device Manager by clicking Start, pointing to Control Panel, clicking System, clicking the Hardware tab, and then, clicking Device Manager.
2. Double-click Sound, video and game controllers to expand that category. If a sound card is listed, you have one installed. If no sound card is listed, check the information that came with your computer to see if there's supposed to be a sound card installed. If there should be a sound card installed, you'll need to install one according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Do reply with results.
