Hi,
I just want to view an excel file on my iPhone. It is a list of all the books I have read and simply want to put them on my iphone so I don't have to carry around a printed list.

You will need an App to do that. There are a number of free apps on the iTunes store. The first I found was "Documents Free (Mobile Office Suite)". I assume you can email the document to your phone.
